Ideas to Change the World

QUT’s Science and Engineering is running an online competition for Year 11 and 12 students.

The Ideas to Change the World Challenge aims to encourage young minds to be our future problem-solvers and for them to understand the positive impact they can have on improving the lives of others and changing the world.

Students can enter their ideas (with an image) online.

Check out some of the ideas entered so far, including the Hydraulically Powered Flood Resistant Residence, the Posture Vest and the Allergen food allergy app. You can also vote and comment on the entries.

The competition is open until 10 August.

The Fame Algorithm

What’s the secret to fame and fortune? Looks? Talent? Opportunity? Not any more.

In today’s world you need to know MATHS. Simon Pampena, the Angry Mathematician, takes the guesswork out of modern fame with his own formula for success, THE FAME ALGORITHM.

Performing at QUT, Gardens Point Guild Bar Thursday 19 August. Book your free tickets online.

A variety of other public events are available as part of National Science Week. More information.
