Wish you could participate in National Science Week, but feel like life is too busy? Need to prioritise walking the dog, cleaning the house, or going to the gym? Why not multi-task and listen to a podcast for National Science Week? 

We are teaming up with podcasters around Australia (and the world) who are producing special episodes to celebrate Science Week. They’ll be listed as virtual events on our website, but here’s just a taster of some of the podcasts that will be getting involved… 

  • The Great Birth Rebellion: A podcast all about the science behind pregnancy and childbirth. For National Science Week, they are producing a special episode explaining how childbirth works for children. 
  • Citizen Science Show: Explores diverse activities of passionate people who record observations, gather help scientists make meaningful discoveries. 
  • Creative Science Podcast for Kids: A science podcast for children aged 8-12 years (and their adults). They explore science facts, intriguing scientific discoveries, and hands-on activities families can try at home.   
  • STEAM Powered Show: Spotlights women in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) and is highlighting a fabulous Western Australian science communicator for National Science Week. 
  • Stories of Openness: A podcast from Deakin University exploring the importance of open-access educational resources about everything from midwifery to supporting maths education. 
  • Pals in Paleo: An Australian podcast that brings fossils back to life! It explores fossil form, function, and ancient ecosystems. 
  • Women in Science Podcast– Hosted by the University of Queensland, this interview series highlights the personal and professional journeys of inspiring researchers breaking barriers in their fields. 
  • Meaning of Health– Hosted by the University of Western Australia, this podcast explores what different areas of health research mean to you, covering topics from aging to living with a hidden disability. 
  • Automated Societies: The ARC Centre of Excellence for Automated Decision-Making and Society explores the multitude of ways AI and ADM technology are impacting everyday life. They are also holding a special AMA (Ask Me Anything) for National Science Week.  
  • Ingredipeda: Australia’s self-described ‘funnest food podcast’, where listeners can feast on funny food facts and fables and slurp up strange and spicy stories from supermarkets and society.
