Engineers, technologists and IT experts are not always the best report-writers. Or are they?

Learn the tricks of the trade in a comprehensive three-hour course designed to improve the writing and communication skills of those needing to file important reports.

Session 1
9.30am to 11am, AEST
  • Rationale: Why it’s worth writing excellent and easy-to-read reports for non-technical readers
  • On paper: How savvy project managers should document discussions
  • Value system: Criteria for effectively communicating technical and research content through figures, tables, graphics, illustrations, photos, and video.
  • Feedback corner: Questions and answers relating to material covered. 
Session 2
2pm to 4.30pm, AEST 
  • Vetting: How to check and cross-check facts. 
  • Writing technical documents: Strategies for translating complex material into clear, accessible forms, including report planning, structure and crafting engaging, accurate leads.
  • Client strategies: Tips for conducting productive discussions with clients, including voice and gesture coaching, role-play exercises and the recording and review of simulated interviews.

Upon completion of the course, attendees may seek further advice and guidance by email or telephone for a period of up to one month after the workshop is finished. This provides an additional opportunity to hone skills and prepare captivating reports.
