This interactive exhibit invites visitors of all ages to discover the fascinating world of sawfish through hands-on activities, real scientific research and citizen science. The stars of the display are enormous sawfish rostra (or "saws") measuring over 150 cm long. For many children, the saws are bigger than they are, making them an unforgettable introduction to one of nature's most remarkable creatures.

Can you identify different species of sawfish just by looking at their saw? Test your skills in our sawfish identification challenge and learn how scientists use these unique features to distinguish between species. You'll also discover why sawfish are so important to aquatic ecosystems and the challenges they face in rivers, estuaries and coastal waters around northern Australia.
