Join us for an enchanting evening under the stars in the Jump-Up Dark Sky Sanctuary.
Inspired by the poetry of Banjo Paterson, Starshine Unfolds will have you discovering how poetry link to dark skies, life on Earth, and dinosaurs.
Beginning from 5pm, be treated to a free sausage sizzle, chat with scientists and our guest presenter Professor Jonti Horner while watching the sunset over the spectacular outback.
In the Gondwana Stars Observatory, our resident astronomer Grant will take for you an adventure under the star, followed by Prof. Horner presenting a talk on “Rocks from Space” and how our solar system formed.
After, you will have the chance to dive deeper as you take in views through telescopes and binoculars of some of the objects introduced in the presentations.
Starshine Unfolds is named after a line in a Banjo Paterson poem called 'The Daylight is Dying'. The words help capture the dramatic change from daylight to nighttime when the stars appear to unfold from their hidden realm and shine bright in our dark sky sanctuary, without light pollution.
Whether you're an avid stargazer or just looking for a family evening, Starshine Unfolds is the place to be. Don’t miss out on this unique experience to connect and let the night unfold its sparkle!
