‘Sowing the Seeds of Love’ will run from 15 -23 August 2026, involving 400 K-6 mainstream and 100 educational support centre students. The week will include rotational inquiry/PBL based STEAM investigations integrated through MESH subjects, with ideas adapted from the ASTA resource book. The outcome is to plant the seeds of curiosity, inquiry and hope by growing scientific understanding to build and nurture knowledge to work together for the future. Investigations will build upon STEAM and Inquiry Science Skills. Students are challenged with hands-on, minds-on seed spotting, seed sort, seed dissection, seed poo and seed dispersal at Yellagonga National Park. The story of a seed will be explored through texts Jack and the Bean Stalk and A Tiny Seed. Students will learn about the International Year of the Woman Farmer through online learning, Ketut Bassett who started with rice and now grows organic tropical fruit. Students will be gifted a keepsake key pocket. At the end of each activity, students will be given a variety of seed. At the end of the week, the keys will be interconnected to form an outline of the universe. The keys are gifted to students to take home to sow their knowledge with others.
