Haasts Bluff School have invited neighbouring remote Aboriginal schools in the same Luritja language group to a “Science Camp”. This will involve students working collaboratively to engage in hands-on, practical science activities, which will utilise ideas from the Two-Way Science book (CSIRO), especially Unit 3: What do plants need to grow? and the ASTA resource book for 2026, including activities involving planting seeds, making seed paper and seed bombs and seeding crystals.
The camp will also involve social activities such as a community barbecue and a night time viewing of the night sky and collaborative art project involving seeds. The activities will involve an opportunity for students and family groups to interact, which is not easy to do in our location, and will have leadership involvement from the Traditional Owners, Elders and the local Aboriginal Corporation, Ngurratjuta and its Junior Ranger Program and Kungka Rangers.
