The output-driven course, presented by seasoned science writer and broadcaster Peter Spinks, will teach the essential skills and strategies needed to communicate the outcomes of scientific research to the media, government, research funding bodies and the public.

Among other things, this comprehensive course will cover the fundamental principles and “rules of the science-writing game”, equipping researchers and managers with the confidence and media savvy required to communicate their messages clearly and effectively.

Hands-on training will be provided in preparing articles, feature stories and illustrative material for a wide range of outlets, including in-house, local and international publications, as well as digital media.

Participants who complete the course will acquire valuable skills, including those needed to liaise with journalists and develop successful media pitches.

Worked examples, reference materials, background notes and a certificate of completion will be provided, along with a one-month follow-up period during which participants may seek advice and assistance on any aspect of the course.
