To celebrate National Science Week 2026, NT Fisheries will hold an interactive event for high school students to discover how Fisheries scientists use data, research, and technology to understand the health of fish populations and make informed decisions about managing our fisheries.
Students will explore how fisheries scientists collect information from fishers, surveys, and scientific monitoring programs to track changes in fish stocks over time. Through engaging activities and real-world examples, participants will learn how data is used to understand the fish numbers and help ensure fish populations remain sustainable for future generations.
This hands-on learning experience will showcase the important role science plays in fisheries management and highlight the exciting careers that contribute to protecting our aquatic resources.
