Science for Health – Climate and health awareness in remote Australia

Calling all Central Australian students and educators! Join us this National Science Week for an exciting event at The Menzies School of Health Research Alice Springs.

Students and anyone interested in learning about careers in science and STEM and the pathways to get there through talks and hands-on experiences. Two sessions are running across the day, one tailored to primary school students, and one aimed at high school students. Session details below.

After hearing from leading climate scientists and meet local STEM researchers, Students will have the choice of hands-on STEM activities to take part in, including:

  • Water and Soil Testing
  • UV Germ identification
  • Heat and Air Monitoring
  • Waste Management
  • Exploring Blood in Diabetes
  • Agricultural Tree Planting Activity
  • Antimicrobial resistance talk by a climate scientist
  • Science Week Quiz

Please note light lunch will be provided. 

Session details:

  • 9:15 am - 11:30 pm - Primary school students
  • 12:00 am - 2:30pm - High school students 
  • 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm - General Public
