Robotics Roadtrip

  • From
  • Port Augusta Public Library
4 MacKay Street, Port Augusta, SA 5700, Australia

We’re bringing two days of free robotics to Port Augusta Library, open to students in Year 3 and above. Kids who have never touched a robot before will walk in, build one, program it to move, and use it to solve a real challenge, all in the same session.

We use LEGO SPIKE Prime, a hands-on robotics kit that lets you build machines and write code to control them. Each session, students build their own robot and then program it to complete a mission, like navigating a course or reacting to sensors. No experience needed, and every step is done by the students themselves.

Across the two days we’ll run multiple sessions, each around 90 minutes. Students work in small teams, take on different roles, and figure out problems together. When something doesn’t work, they try again, which is exactly the point.

Port Augusta students don’t often get access to this kind of hands-on STEM activity, so bringing it to the library means kids who might never try robotics get a real shot at it. Every session is free for families, funded through a community grant.
