Opening Event – Big Small Worlds Roundtable

  • - (AEST)
  • Hive Tasmania
50 Main Street, Ulverstone, TAS 7315, Australia

Join us for the opening event of Big Small Worlds, a new exhibition in the Art Gallery at Hive.

Featuring artists Helene Boyer, Christie Lange, Sarah Lloyd OAM, Nataša Milenović, Anne Morrison and Emily-Rose Wills, together with a reading by poet Kristen Lang, this special event explores the remarkable life forms and ecosystems that inspire the exhibition.

From Tasmania's deep waters and ancient forests to the microscopic worlds beneath our feet, Big Small Worlds explores the hidden, intricate worlds of organisms and processes that often go unnoticed. Slime moulds, fungi, lichens, seaweeds, mosses, pollen, seeds and nudibranchs become starting points for artistic exploration, scientific curiosity and new ways of seeing the natural world.

Through conversation and storytelling, the artists will share how observation, research and creative practice can reveal unexpected connections between species, places and ecological systems, inviting us to look more closely at the living networks that sustain life around us.

Join us to celebrate the exhibition opening and discover the wonder, complexity and beauty of the small worlds that surround us every day.

Exhibition Dates: 1 August – 18 October 2026
