Murgon State High School, Murgon, QLD 4605, Australia

Discover how science, culture, health and innovation come together to create opportunities for the future.

Students will explore a range of hands-on STEM experiences, including a taste of cutting-edge food science research led by The University of Queensland. Learn how researchers are working with Indigenous knowledge holders to develop a low-sugar drink using native Australian ingredients such as Kakadu plum and Davidson plum, supporting healthier communities while celebrating traditional foods.

Through interactive activities, students can explore nutrition, native foods, engineering, robotics, health careers, sport, cultural heritage and environmental conservation. Meet researchers, university students, health professionals, engineers and elite athletes, discover exciting career pathways, and learn how STEM can help solve real-world challenges in regional and remote communities.

From tasting native fruits and exploring food science experiments to discovering engineering technology, sport pathways and Indigenous cultural heritage careers, this National Science Week event will inspire students to imagine the many possibilities that STEM can unlock.
