Little Scientists Educator Workshop – Design & Technologies

  • - (AEST)
  • Lakeside Hotel & Conference Centre
1 Executive Rd, Macquarie Park, NSW 2113, Australia

Early childhood educators & teachers: Explore technical inventions of the past, optimise present-day technology, and use their creativity to design sustainable solutions for the future. You will also explore playful ways to incorporate philosophical inquiry into practice.

What do chopsticks, underwater vehicles, and ethical decision-making have in common? They're all explored in our upcoming "Design & Technologies" Workshop. In this hands-on workshop, educators will:

  • Solve a transport challenge.
  • Design an innovative way to travel from A to B.
  • Make, test, and refine a device through a maker challenge.
  • Sequence inventions from oldest to newest.
  • Compare past and present technology.
  • Explore recycling through a child-led scenario.

Little Scientists recommends that at least two educators from each service book into this workshop. Not only does this foster a more positive workshop experience, it also means educators can support one another to plan and co-develop an inquiry-based STEM project within their setting.
