This community-focused initiative connects up to 30 participants directly with the local environment through an interactive marine debris activity across two coastal sites in the Yarrabah community. Led by the Junior Ranger program, the event moves beyond a standard beach clean-up by introducing participants to the critical intersection of science, technology, and environmental conservation.
Participants will actively contribute to citizen science by learning the importance of data collection and analysis. Using the Australian Marine Debris Initiative (AMDI) Framework, attendees will be trained to use the AMDI app to log and track debris. This experience with conservation technology is designed to cultivate long-term environmental stewardship, giving participants the skills and motivation to stay engaged with coastline protection.
