Green Bites – Exploring the value of citizen science and BioBlitz events

  • - (AEST)

Join us for the next Green Bites session with Dr Wade Hadwen, Senior Lecturer in the School of Environment and Science and Academic Lead of Griffith University's EcoCentre, as he explores the growing impact of citizen science and the role of BioBlitz events are helping improve our understanding of biodiversity while reconnecting people with nature.

Drawing on insights from Griffith's inaugural Nathan BioBlitz, Wade will share how community-led biodiversity surveys generate valuable species records, support environmental management, and deepen our understanding of local ecosystems. You'll learn what a BioBlitz is, how platforms such as iNaturalist help identify and record species, and the impact these events can have on both participants and biodiversity conservation.

Whether you're a nature enthusiast or simply curious about the wildlife around you, discover how small observations can make a meaningful contribution to scientific research and environmental stewardship. Register for this Green Bites session to discover how you can contribute to citizen science and get involved in upcoming BioBlitz events.
