The OzFish Adelaide Chapter is on a mission to save saltmarshes in the Patawalonga. This is your chance to find out how and why!
Saltmarshes are one South Australia’s most productive coastal ecosystems. They filter water, stabilise shorelines, store blue carbon and provide fish habitat for species like bream and mulloway that our recreational fishers love to catch. However, these habitats are often underappreciated and overlooked, yet essential for supporting estuarine biodiversity.
This community information session is an opportunity for local residents, anglers, families and anyone curious about their coastal backyard to learn about the science of Adelaide’s saltmarshes. It’s also an opportunity to learn about OzFish’s project to rehabilitate and restore existing patches of saltmarshes within the Patawalonga.
This session is relaxed, free and designed to be engaging for all ages. There will be light catering at the event as well as event guest speakers to talk about the importance of the saltmarsh and how to get involved with local fish habitat projects
