Join us for an exciting evening where science comes alive through hands-on activities, student-created displays, and spectacular demonstrations. Ecosystems Alive is a National Science Week event designed to bring students, families, and the wider school community together to celebrate curiosity, discovery, and learning.
Throughout the term, our Year 7 students will investigate ecosystems by designing and constructing their own bottle biomes containing plants and small invertebrates. They will also work collaboratively to create large terrariums representing local biomes and prepare displays explaining the fascinating interactions between living things and their environments.
On the evening of the event, families will be invited to explore these exhibits and learn directly from the students who created them. Visitors will discover how ecosystems function, how living things depend on one another, and why biodiversity is important to our local environment.
In addition to the student displays, families will be able to participate in a range of engaging science activities. Guests can create slime, tackle engineering challenges, and enjoy exciting science demonstrations including elephant’s toothpaste, hovercrafts, and liquid nitrogen experiments. These activities are designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving while demonstrating that science can be both educational and fun.
