Curiosity Unleashed Virtual Excursions

This National Science Week, Scitech Discovery Centre is bringing schools a free series of five, 20-minute virtual excursions, designed for Years 3 to 6.

Inspired by the 2026 National Science Week school's theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for Alleach episode begins with a big question and grows into a fun-filled journey of curiosity and unexpected discovery.

  • Monday 17 August: Can Plants Feel Things? Featuring Perth City Farm
  • Tuesday 18 August: Can you Fight Fire With Fire? Featuring Deadly Science
  • Wednesday 19 August: Can you Catch Lightning? Featuring Engineering Institute of Technology
  • Thursday 20 August: Can Sharks Stop Swimming? Featuring AQWA
  • Friday 21 August: Can Humans Fly? Featuring iFLY

Follow along as two Scitech science communicators put each big question to the test through exciting experiments, special guest interviews and a myth-busting quiz.

Streaming on YouTube, these sessions are easy to use in the classroom and perfect for whole-class participation. Students can join in with quiz questions and classroom discussions as the action unfolds.

These sessions will be launched each day from:

  • 9.00am Australian Western Standard Time (WA)
  • 10.30am Australian Central Standard Time (NT, SA)
  • 11.00am Australian Eastern Standard Time (ACT, NSW, QLD, TAS, VIC)

Teachers who register will also receive free extension resources and access to recordings, to continue the learning beyond National Science Week. Curiosity Unleashed is designed to be accessible for schools right across Australia and the world, including regional and remote communities.
