Could you design a robot to help in a disaster, explore underwater or travel through space?
This National Science Week, join CSIRO Robot Responders and discover how science, technology and engineering come together to solve real-world challenges. Young people will step into the role of a CSIRO robotics engineer, designing robots to tackle missions inspired by real CSIRO research.
Choose from three exciting mission environments: caves and lava tubes, marine environments, and space exploration. Along the way, you'll learn how robots move, sense the world around them and help humans work in places that are too dangerous or difficult for people to reach.
Whether you're taking part at school, in a library, with a community group or at home, there are plenty of ways to get involved. Explore free hands-on activities, mission scenarios, design challenges, an unplugged card game and an interactive online game. Use creativity, teamwork and problem-solving skills to design, test and improve your ideas just like real engineers do.
There are also prizes to be won! Register your involvement and enter the robot design competition for the chance to win great prizes, including 3D printers and education vouchers. The first 200 registrations will also receive a free book hamper featuring titles from CSIRO Publishing (T&Cs apply).
One challenge. Three missions. Multiple ways to play. Join us this National Science Week and put your robot design skills to the test.
