Bug City - Building Biodiversity Together

  • - (AEST)
  • Central Ringwood Community Centre
Rosewarne Lane, Ringwood, VIC 3134, Australia

Ever wondered where bees, ladybugs and other helpful insects live? Join us during National Science Week for Bug City: Building Biodiversity Together, a fun, hands-on community event where we'll work together to build a giant insect hotel for the Bedford Park Community Garden.

Insects play a huge role in keeping our gardens healthy. Native bees, butterflies and beneficial bugs help pollinate plants, improve biodiversity and create thriving ecosystems. During this special event, you'll learn about these amazing creatures and why they matter.

Families, volunteers, gardeners and community members of all ages are invited to help create the insect hotel using recycled and natural materials. Along the way, you can take part in hands-on activities and discover how even small actions can make a big difference for wildlife and the environment.

Once completed, the insect hotel will become a permanent home for beneficial insects and an educational feature for the whole community to enjoy.

There will also be a free community BBQ, light refreshments and plenty of opportunities to meet new people and connect with local schools, environmental groups and sustainability organisations.

Come along, get your hands dirty, learn something new and help us build a home for nature—one bug at a time!

Everyone is welcome, and no experience is needed.
