Sound in Space – Slime Moulds and Mountain Harp

  • From
  • Hive Tasmania
50 Main Street, Ulverstone, TAS 7315, Australia

Step inside the planetarium dome at Hive for an immersive journey into one of nature's most mysterious worlds.

Slime Moulds and Mountain Harp combines stunning imagery of Tasmanian slime moulds with the haunting sounds of Garry Greenwood's 18-string Tasmanian Mountain Harp, creating a unique live performance that blurs the boundaries between science, art and music.

Projected across the dome, Sarah Lloyd OAM's extraordinary macro and micro photography reveals slime moulds in all their remarkable forms and life stages. Alien-like in appearance yet found right here in Tasmania, these fascinating organisms become the backdrop for a rich and atmospheric musical experience.

Musicians Karlin Love and Suzy Turner will perform on the Mountain Harp alongside complementary instruments including electric violin, clarinet and gongs, responding to the imagery and creating a live performance that is both meditative and otherworldly.
