In marine science, the ideas that take root are the ones planted together. It's a principle Australia's new National Marine Science Strategy 2026–36 puts plainly: safeguarding the future of our oceans and coasts "cannot be achieved by any one sector alone". Restoring endangered seagrass meadows, turning fishing vessels into ocean observers, reconnecting waterways for native species — all draw on partnerships — with Traditional Owners, and across research, industry and government. 

Leaning into this year's National Science Week theme, Seeds of Science: Nurturing knowledge for all, we're bringing together UNSW and SIMS researchers whose work is built on partnerships to share what is possible when we work together.

Expect a fast hour: five speed talks from UNSW and SIMS researchers, a brief moderated panel discussion and audience Q&A. Then, from 7 pm, join us in the foyer over refreshments to meet the researchers, browse project posters and take the opportunity to dig into the work behind the talks.

This event is presented by UNSW Science and the Sydney Institute of Marine Science as a part of National Science Week.
