This National Science Week event explores the basis of quantum systems, by exploring qubits in superposition, through spinning coins! Welcome year 8s, today we are going to model the seeds (basis) of quantum systems, by spinning a coin, fun, this spinning coin analogy encompasses the greater idea that a quantum system can exist in multiple states, all at the same time. We know that computers operate off of a code of o or 1 and 0 or 1 are both possible outcomes in computing. However quantum computing systems can exist in a superposition of o, 1 or 0 and 1 at the same time, in the same state, similar to how when a coin is in motion both sides are feasible outcomes, modelling superposition exploring the spinning coin analogy!
