  • Roseworth Primary School
30 Stebbing Way, GIRRAWHEEN, WA 6064, Australia

'Seeds of Science' is more than a theme—it’s a commitment to nurturing a love of learning, respect for Country, and appreciation of wisdom in every culture. By working together—students, teachers, families, and community—we’ll create a rich, inclusive environment where knowledge takes root and flourishes. STEM Week will culminate in a community gathering, where we’ll share learning, celebrate achievements, and reflect on the journey and learn through all cultures within our community.

STEM Week will be inclusive of all cultures at Roseworth, with a focus on all the cultures within our community, including Noongar, Spanish, Filipino, Indian, Macedonian, Vietnamese and more. Each class will be given a culture to learn how they have contributed to Science, focusing on Women in STEM. Learning through listening and dancing will be key. Students will participate in yarning circles, hearing stories that teach about the land, the seasons, and the interconnectedness of all things, different cultures and learning their ways. These lessons will allow students to embody scientific concepts through movement and creativity, while celebrating the diverse cultures of Roseworth Primary School.

A unique feature of STEM Week will be lunchtime “Pitfalls” challenges—quick, hands-on activities encouraging experimentation, risk-taking, and learning from mistakes. Whether building the tallest tower from natural materials, designing a long-flying paper plane, or solving a tricky puzzle, students will discover that failure is the beginning of learning. By celebrating mistakes and perseverance, we’ll build resilience and curiosity. Teachers and student leaders will model positive attitudes toward failure, showing every attempt is a step toward discovery.
