"Seeds of Science: Growing the Future” is a hands-on primary school project aligned with the National Science Week theme, “Seeds of science: Nurturing knowledge for all.” Students will investigate how seeds grow and explore the role of agriculture and simple biotechnology in food production. Through guided inquiry, students will examine different seed types, predict outcomes, and conduct experiments testing variables such as light, water, and soil quality.
Students will collect and record data, observing how environmental factors affect plant growth. They will then apply their learning by designing and creating simple innovations such as mini greenhouses, self-watering systems, or model “super seeds” adapted to environmental challenges like drought. The project encourages curiosity, critical thinking, and collaboration while building foundational scientific skills.
Learning will culminate in a “Seeds of Science Fair,” where students present their findings to peers and the school community. The project connects science to real-world issues such as sustainability, agriculture, and food security, ensuring accessibility for all learners. It provides meaningful engagement with STEM while fostering environmental awareness and an understanding of how science supports communities.
