Have you ever wondered how something as small as a seed can grow into a giant tree, a colourful flower, or even the food on your dinner plate? This Science Week, our school will come alive with discovery and hands-on learning at the exciting Science Week Expo. Where students from Prep to Year 12 will explore the amazing world of seeds through a range of fun and fascinating experiments. The expo will happen in our school under croft as we currently do not have a dedicated science lab. The expo will transform our playground into a bustling science hub filled with interactive activities. Students of all ages will take part in experiments linked to different seed-themed activities, helping them to understand the role seeds play in sustaining and supporting life on Earth. As students at Mancel College struggle with a language disorder, the experiments are more hands to help their learning.

Junior school will explore unique shape sizes and colours through a sensory experience. They will observe seeds up close and through simple planting activity, discover how they grow.

Middle school students will investigate different environmental conditions that affect seed growth. They will test the pH of water, soil and look at other environmental factors that impact how plants grow.

Our senior students will be running these activities and have an opportunity to showcase their scientific knowledge and skills. They will interact with younger students and carry out their experiments.

This Science week promises to be a celebration of curiosity, creativity and learning from our smallest prep students to our oldest students. If we have the opportunity to access all the wonderful videos from SCINEMA, it will make our event even more amazing. Just like a huge tree can grow from a small mustard seed, we want to see students grow their love for science in the same way.
