During National Science Week, our school will host a Community STEM Discovery Festival, transforming the campus into a hands-on, interactive science playground for students, families, and the wider community.
Participants will access hands-on STEM Discovery stations exploring chemical reactions, forces and motion, engineering design, and problem solving. Activities will include slime making and mini volcano eruptions, balloon rocket races, paper plane aerodynamics, pasta tower engineering, STEM “Minute-to-Win-It” challenges, and staff vs student STEM showdowns.
A Year 6 Student STEM Leadership Team will plan and lead stations, mentor younger students, and model scientific thinking through experimentation, prediction, and improvement, building leadership and communication skills.
Families and community members will actively participate alongside students, strengthening school–community connections and showcasing the relevance and excitement of STEM in everyday life.
This festival will inspire curiosity, collaboration, and creativity, making STEM accessible, engaging, and relevant, while embedding a sustainable STEM culture and nurturing future student leaders across our school community.
