Science in Action is a special event that our school will hold during National Science Week. The event is designed to make science fun, exciting, and hands-on for all students.

Instead of sitting in a classroom and only reading about science, students will get the chance to see science happening right in front of them and take part in experiments themselves.

What will happen?

Students from different year levels will work together. The older students will become science leaders for the day. They will:

• Plan interesting science experiments.
• Gather and prepare the materials needed.
• Demonstrate the experiments to other students.
• Explain the science behind what is happening.

The younger students will visit different experiment stations set up around the school. They will move from one station to another in small groups.

How will the stations work?

The event will last for about one hour. During that time, each group will rotate through several science stations. At every station, students will:

• Watch an experiment being demonstrated.
• Take part in the activity when possible.
• Ask questions.
• Learn about a different scientific idea.

This rotating system means that students can experience many different experiments in a short amount of time rather than spending the whole hour on just one activity.
