  • St Joseph's School Port Lincoln in The Chemistry Lab
14 Mortlock terrace, Port Lincoln, SA 5606, Australia

To celebrate Science Week, we will once again be hosting our popular lunchtime activities in the Biology Labs. All students across the school (kindy to year 12) are invited to take part in a range of hands-on stations, supervised by teachers and senior students.

Each station will focus on this year’s theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Science for All.” Students can plant a colourful chemical garden and watch it grow, pop into the science of popcorn, investigate the structure of seeds and the plants they grow into and discover plants that reproduce without seeds. They will have the opportunity to manipulate the core requirements for plant growth—light, water, temperature and nutrients—using computer simulations to see how these factors influence plant development and food harvest. Students can see, touch and taste a variety of edible seeds, discovering the foods they are used in, along with plenty of other engaging activities designed to spark curiosity and grow a love of science!
