Blast Off Into Science Week at Mitcham Primary!
Get ready for a dazzling journey through space! Mitcham Primary School is thrilled to invite our whole community to an Astronomy Viewing Night in partnership with the Astronomical Society of South Australia (ASSA), launching Science Week with a cosmic bang on Friday, 14 August!
This is your family’s chance to experience the wonder of the universe—through real telescopes, guided by expert astronomers, AND a fun rocket building competition! Join in as students and family members design and construct incredible paper and pop rockets, culminating in an electrifying evening launch.
But that’s not all! Dive into space-themed craft activities, explore the mysteries of the night sky with Stargazing Spotto cards, and learn about Aboriginal astronomy—like the tale of the Emu in the Sky. Families can ignite creativity with hands-on projects, bring science alive at home, and celebrate curiosity, innovation, and discovery together.
Why Join Us?
Let’s spark wonder and show that science isn’t just for the classroom—it’s for our whole community and our future. Mark your calendar for this family event and be part of an unforgettable Science Week launch!
