larapuna Community Weekend 2026

  • - (AEST)
  • Deep Creek Campground (21st August)
Deep Creek Campground, Eddystone Point, TAS 7264, Australia

Enjoy walking 50km of the spectacular larapuna / Bay of Fires coastline this August on five big beach walks over four days.

Come for one day, two days or all four and get lots of fresh air while helping keep our precious coast healthy.

Along the way we’ll work together to control the beach weed ‘sea spurge’ and remove marine litter from the coastline, helping protect the beach habitat of the hooded plover and other significant shorebirds. Free buses from St Helens will get you there and back (except Fri. 21st). These are all-day walks over soft sand and rocks and the weather may be challenging, so you need to be fit and able.  Pack your lunch, water, good wind/rain protection, warm clothing and wear hiking footwear.

 Saturday 15 August

  • The Gardens - Start on the bus from St Helens, to walk 13km from Policemans Point to the Gardens.

For details and to book this one day walk visit events.humanitix.com/larapuna-community-weekend-2026-gardens

Friday 21, Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August.

  • Deep Creek (Friday 21) - A 12km walk along the coast between Stumpys Bay and Deep Creek (meet at Deep Creek).
  • Eddystone Point (Saturday 23) - Two options - a 6km walk from Deep Creek, or 9 km from Ansons Bay - to Eddystone Point. Where we’ll learn more about the natural and cultural heritage of this special place and share a free evening BBQ.
  • Abbotsbury Beach (Sunday 23) - A 7 km walk on Abbotsbury Beach opposite Ansons Bay.

For details and to book any of these four walks visit events.humanitix.com/larapuna-community-weekend-2026

Walkers must also be registered as volunteers with the Tasmanian Parks & Wildlife Service - do that online here: volunteer with Tasmania PWS.

This event is run by Friends of larapuna Coast Wildcare group and many partners, supported in 2026 by the Tasmanian Nature Conservation Fund.
