Get ready to explore, experiment, and be amazed!

The Hunter Science Festival is Newcastle’s biggest and most exciting day of science, where curiosity comes to life and everyone is invited to join the fun.

Held once a year at Newcastle Museum during National Science Week, this one-day event transforms the museum into a buzzing science playground. Thousands of people come along each year, making it the museum’s largest single-day event – and it’s easy to see why.

The festival is packed with hands-on activities, interactive displays, live stage shows and demonstrations designed especially for families and primary school-aged kids. You won’t just be looking at science – you’ll be doing it. Whether you’re a curious kid, a parent, or just someone who loves discovering new things, there’s something here for you.

Delivered in collaboration with the Hunter Innovation and Science Hub (HISH), and proudly supported by the Department of Science, Industry and Resources and Create NSW, the Hunter Science Festival is all about making science fun, accessible, and unforgettable. Come along, try something new, and see just how exciting science can be!
