Girls as Leaders in STEM (GALS) Academy with Zoos Victoria Workshop:

During this GALS Academy event, Deakin University and Zoos Victoria are teaming up on Deakin University Warrnambool’s campus to provide an experience of STEM innovation in action. Learning from Conservation Scientists into the next steps in saving a critically endangered species, the Southern Bent-wing bat, girls consider the question "How can we save a species from extinction?' by tackling challenges through a design activity using their essential GALS skills of entrepreneurship, leadership, teamwork and communication.  

We will hear from experts in the field about current science and engage in hands on demonstrations to learn how to collect information about bats, using specialised technology including echolocation devices, microchips, trackers, a bat lure and bat traps.
