During National Science Week, Canberra High School will deliver a hands-on robotics and coding program in partnership with a local primary school and the Academy of Future Skills.
Students will use Edison robots to design, test and refine code, developing key STEM capabilities including computational thinking, problem-solving and collaboration. By seeing their code come to life through robotics, students will build confidence and deepen their understanding of programming concepts.
This initiative will have a strong impact on student learning outcomes by providing authentic, engaging experiences that connect theory to practice. It is designed to spark curiosity and foster sustained interest in STEM. The program is practical and scalable, running over one week with structured workshops led by teachers and supported by student mentors.
The project also encourages community involvement through collaboration with neighbouring primary schools and opportunities for families to engage with student showcases. This strengthens STEM pathways and builds a connected learning community beyond the classroom.
