Join Distinguished Professor Chris Sobey to learn about his incredible career as a medical researcher, the research driving innovative stroke therapies, and what is involved in designing and delivering large-scale national clinical trials.
Distinguished Professor Chris Sobey has devoted his career to advancing science and improving outcomes for stroke patients. Over decades of research, his work has explored the complex signals that regulate coronary and cerebral blood flow, deepening our understanding of how the brain and cardiovascular system function in both health and disease.
Professor Sobey and his team are currently focused on uncovering the oxidative and inflammatory processes that occur in the brain following stroke, with the aim of identifying and developing new, effective treatments. This research has included co-leading a Phase I clinical trial investigating the safety of Amnion Cell Therapy for stroke patients. The trial was successfully completed and published, providing a strong foundation for an upcoming Phase II trial scheduled to commence later this year.
Students, medical professionals, and members of the community are encouraged to attend and be inspired by Professor Sobey and his team. Their dedication, collaboration, and passion for helping others demonstrate the extraordinary impact that can be achieved when people commit their lives to science.
