Bridge or Bust – Whole School Engineering Challenge at Jindivick Primary School

  • - (AEST)
  • Bridge or Bust: Whole School Engineering Challenge
Jindivick Primary School, Jindivick, VIC 3818, Australia

Get ready to build, test, improve and try again!

During National Science Week, Jindivick Primary School students will take part in a whole-school engineering challenge called Bridge or Bust. Students from Foundation to Year 6 will work in small mixed-age teams to design and build model bridges.

Each group will need to think like engineers. They will test how strong their bridge is, check how well it holds weight, and look at what could be improved. If their first design does not work, that is part of the challenge! Students will make changes, test again and learn from each attempt.

Classes will take part across the week, with students exploring ideas such as strength, balance, shape, materials, problem-solving and teamwork. The challenge will finish with a whole-school showcase where bridges are tested and celebrated.

This event helps students learn that science and engineering are not just about getting the right answer straight away. They are about asking questions, trying ideas, learning from mistakes and working together to solve real problems.
