The 90 minute bus tour of Rio Tinto’s Tom Price mine starts at the Tom Price Visitor Centre.

Once at the mine, visitors will be able to look into the one of the largest open cut mines in the world, as well as see huge mining trucks being loaded and moving the ore. The tour also goes through the crushing and screening plants, and to the train loading area.

The mine opened in 1966 and produces 28 million tonnes of ore per year. The trains that take the ore to port at Dampier are up to 2.4 kilometres long and weigh 29 500 tonnes.

Bookings are required and covered footwear must be worn. Fees apply.
