What are climate models? An animation by Australia's climate simulator, ACCESS-NRI

  • - (AEST)

Ever wondered what a "climate model" actually is?

It is not a guess. It is millions of equations, run on some of Australia's most powerful supercomputers, simulating the atmosphere, oceans, land, and ice together.

Our new animation explains how these models work, and how ACCESS-NRI supports the Australian research community building and using them.

More importantly, this animation explains why we need climate models. Without them, we will be driving blind: making decisions about our future climate with no way to see what's coming.
