Celebrate National Science Week with Astronomy in the Park, a free, family-friendly event presented by UniSQ at Frogs Hollow, Queens Park, Toowoomba.

Designed for families, primary and high school students, and anyone curious about space, this is your chance to explore the night sky, meet local Toowoomba astronomers and experience some of the science and technology used in modern astronomy and space research.

From 3pm, visitors can take part in solar and Moon observing, experience virtual reality journeys through the Solar System and Universe, and explore UniSQ’s Mobile Mission Operations Centre, used to support satellite operations and space missions.

From 6pm, the focus turns to the night sky, with supervised observing through telescopes, live images from UniSQ’s Mount Kent Observatory, and opportunities to talk with UniSQ astronomers about planets, stars, galaxies and the research being carried out locally in southern Queensland.

Whether you are a young person considering a future in science, a family looking for something different to do, or simply someone who has always wanted to look through a telescope, Astronomy in the Park is an opportunity to look up, ask questions and discover more about our Universe.
