In this National Science Week event, you’ll meet real scientists working in some of Australia’s most incredible places—from the icy landscapes of Antarctica to the rivers of Kakadu and the Ningaloo Reef.
In this event, scientists from the Department of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water will share stories about where they work, what they do every day, and why their research matters for protecting our environment. Then comes the best part: a “show and tell” where they reveal what’s inside their bag! You might see strange tools, surprising gadgets, or mystery items that help them study animals, plants, water, and ecosystems.
Through these stories, you’ll learn how science happens outside of the classroom—out in nature, in extreme weather, and in places most people never get to visit. You’ll also discover how the information scientists collect helps make important decisions that protect Australia’s environment and wildlife.
