The Bats and Trees Society of Cairns is a volunteer-run organisation dedicated to the care, protection, and conservation of bats, including the endangered Spectacled Flying-fox, a species found only in Australia's Wet Tropics. Through education, community engagement, wildlife conservation and citizen science, the society helps people better understand and appreciate the vital role bats play in our ecosystems. 

Visit the stand to explore educational displays, learn about local bat species, and discover how researchers and community members work together to protect these remarkable animals. Meet passionate bat advocates, find out about citizen science projects, and see bat detectors in action as you uncover how scientists study bats in the wild.

Young explorers can enjoy drawing and colouring activities, bat-themed games, craft activities, and a special bat discovery hunt or quiz that will take them on an adventure around the STEM fair. There will also be bat activity books available and education resources for teachers looking to bring bat science into the classroom.
