National Science Week 2026: 3D print a carnivorous plant planter

  • - (AEST)
  • Burwood Library and Community Hub
2 Conder Street, Burwood, NSW 2134, Australia

In this hands-on session, children aged 8 to 14 years will learn about carnivorous plants and design a custom planter to bring one home.

Participants will learn about carnivorous plants and their role in Australian ecosystems, use Tinkercad to design their very own planter, design a personalised planter using simple 3D modelling tools, add creative touches and unique details to make their planter one-of-a-kind, and 3D print their finished design on our Bambu Lab P1S printers.

Along the way, kids get a gentle intro to how 3D printing works and what it's like to create in a real makerspace with guidance from our expert facilitators.

Please note: 3D prints may need to be collected the week after the workshop.

This program is free, but bookings are essential.

This Inspiring Australia NSW initiative is supported by the Australian Government as part of National Science Week.
