Our National Science Week event will deliver an engaging, hands-on science and sustainability experience for early years children and their families through an interactive music and movement experience delivered by “Junkyard Beats”. The workshop combines music, creativity, environmental science, and engineering concepts by teaching participants how everyday discarded materials can be reused and transformed into musical instruments.
The event will be held at our Neighbourhood House Community Childcare in Thornbury. The venue is a safe and accessible space with both indoor and outdoor options suitable for families with young children. Participants will take part in a facilitated music and movement session using instruments created from recycled and reused materials such as tins, cardboard tubes, plastic containers, and bottle caps. Through play-based learning, children will explore concepts including sound, vibration, materials, reuse, waste reduction, and sustainability.
