Welcome to the Molecular Space Kitchen, where chemistry meets cooking, meets outer space. What makes food taste good in zero gravity? How do you preserve flavour, colour and nutrition millions of kilometres from Earth?

This two-hour workshop begins with a visit to the Cosmic Echoes Exhibition before moving to Molecular Space Kitchen, where you'll discover the extraordinary science behind feeding astronauts on long-duration space missions. Here, you’ll also get to use hands on food science to make noodles from fresh spinach and red cabbage, taking your ingredients on a wild scientific journey.

Using an incredible chemistry technique called alginate spherification, you will transform these familiar ingredients into something weird, wonderful and wildly delicious.

This food technology is used by both world-class chefs and space food scientists, and after this workshop - you! Along the way, you'll unlock the secrets of flavour molecules, colour chemistry, and why texture is so important for astronauts eating processed space food far from home.

Warning: you will never look at a green juice the same way again…
