Welcome to Seeds of Knowledge Week at BBC – an exciting STEM adventure for the whole school!

For one amazing week, students will become scientists, inventors, explorers, and problem-solvers as they dive into hands-on activities, workshops, science fairs, and a special careers event. The theme is all about discovering new things, growing ideas, creating innovations, exploring our world, and helping the environment.

From our youngest students, the “seedlings,” to those getting ready for future careers, everyone will investigate real-world challenges like protecting the planet, growing enough food for the future, and caring for our natural environment.

At the Junior and Senior Science Fairs, students can explore exciting interactive zones. In the Seeds of Discovery Zone, they’ll use microscopes to uncover hidden details, solve mystery seed challenges, and make native seed balls. In the Growing Zone, students will discover different ways plants grow, including soil, aquaponics, and hydroponics, and even watch crystals grow from tiny seeds into sparkling geodes. In the Pollination Zone, they’ll learn how bees, birds, bats, and the wind help spread seeds—and how people have spread ideas through changing communication technologies over time.

The Growth and Innovation Workshop will put students’ creativity and problem-solving skills to the test. They’ll tackle exciting challenges such as growing plants in space, helping farms adapt to climate change, and using cutting-edge technology like drones and eDNA monitoring to protect our environment.

The week ends with the Fruits of Knowledge Symposium, where students will meet farmers, environmental experts, and industry professionals. They’ll hear inspiring stories, discover future career pathways, and learn how the ideas they grow today could become the opportunities of tomorrow.
