Are you ready to build the future? Welcome to the Muswellbrook Solar Car STEM Challenge, a hands-on science adventure where you get to become a real clean energy engineer!
We are bringing together up to 150 students from 10 local schools to the STEM Innovation Lab at the Donald Horne Building. You will work in teams to explore how recycled materials and solar power can drive our future.
In fast-paced, high-energy rotations, your group of 30 will cycle through 5 awesome hands-on stations:
SunSprint Solar Car Engineering: Get your hands on professional UNSW solar car models! You will adjust the gears, angle the solar panels to catch the best sunlight, and test your vehicle on our dual speed tracks.
Net Zero Education Trailer: Step inside a high-tech mobile trailer packed with interactive games and displays showing how we can reduce regional emissions to zero.
Copper Circular Economy: See where the metals in your phones and gadgets come from. You will learn how "urban mining" recycles electronic waste to keep it out of landfill.
Circular Science Survey: Share your voice! Take our quick, fun survey to help our science team study how young people view clean energy.
At the end of the day, every participating school will take home Solar Engineering Kits so your classes can keep building, testing, and preparing for the Newcastle EV Challenge in September. https://www.careerlinks.nsw.edu.au/ev/
