Sciencepalooza is a week-long celebration of science held during lunchtime at our 4–12 college, designed to increase student engagement in STEM through hands-on, high-impact demonstrations and student-led learning experiences. The program will run across one school week and provide daily interactive science activities for students from Year 4 through to Year 12.
Students will participate in a Science Scavenger Hunt, encouraging teamwork, problem-solving, and curiosity through science-themed clues and challenges across the campus. A Round Robin of Science Experiments, led by teachers and Year 11–12 Science Ambassadors will also feature, including engaging demonstrations such as Genie in a Bottle, Flaming Hands, Water into Wine, sodium acetate crystallisation (“hot ice”), lava lamps, soap boats, and an endothermic “chilly recipe” reaction.
A whole-school outdoor science demonstration, creating a shared STEM experience for the entire college community. The week will conclude on Friday with a Science Show for Year 4, delivered by Science Ambassadors and featuring crowd favourites such as the blue bottle reaction, elephant’s toothpaste, whoosh bottle, and liquid nitrogen ice cream.
This initiative promotes student leadership, cross-year collaboration, and a vibrant school-wide culture of science.
