Get ready for a day of wonder, curiosity, and hands-on discovery! The Great Science Circuit invites students to step into the world of science as they move through a series of exciting activity stations. Each stop along the way offers a new challenge to explore, experiment, and think like a scientist. From bubbling reactions to creative engineering tasks, students will collaborate, question, and uncover the magic behind how our world works.
This is more than just a science day—it’s an adventure where every rotation brings a new opportunity to explore, discover, and be inspired!
- Seed Dissection & Microscopy Station:
Students examine different seeds using magnifying glasses and digital microscopes to observe seed structure, compare varieties and discuss how plants grow.
- Planting & Germination Station:
Each student plants their own seed in a biodegradable pot. They learn about what plants need to grow and predict germination outcomes.
- Seed “Engineering” Challenge:
Students investigate how seeds travel in nature. They design and test their own “flying” or “floating” seed models inspired by dandelions, helicopters and water‑floating seeds.
- Crystals: Growth, change and processes:
Crystal growing is fundamentally about watching something grow over time, just like a seed. Students will compare living growth with non‑living growth, reinforcing scientific understanding of systems.
- Scientific Storytelling Station:
Using picture books, students learn how scientific ideas often begin with observation and curiosity, reinforcing the theme of small ideas growing into big discoveries.
Students will look at natural items from local Country, Indigenous pattern examples and artworks and seasonal cycles
