‘Seeds to Systems’ is an interactive Science Week expo that takes visitors on a journey through the innovation of agriculture. This student-led expo highlights how plants can be grown across different systems, combining scientific inquiry with real-world applications.
The expo is structured into three immersive zones. In Zone 1, students present traditional soil-based trial plots, demonstrating plant growth from seed to harvest while sharing experimental data on variables such as soil quality and watering conditions. Zone 2 explores hydroponics, where students explain how plants grow without soil, using nutrient-rich water solutions and controlled environments. In Zone 3, aquaponics systems illustrate a closed-loop ecosystem, where fish and plants work together, showcasing concepts such as the nitrogen cycle and sustainability.
Throughout the expo, students act as guides and presenters, explaining their investigations, results, and scientific processes. Visitors of all ages can engage in hands-on activities, ask questions, and explore interactive displays. Seeds to Systems celebrates innovation in agriculture while empowering students to communicate science in meaningful and engaging ways.
